The renewal of the anti-corrosion protection of a hydropower station in Germany.
The company Schluchseewerk AG decided to renovate the anti-corrosion protection of the pumped-storage hydropower station at Wehr, after it had been in operation for 30 years.
The project consisted of the treatment of parts of the installation : the pressure shaft, the upper and lower water distribution pipeline, the cylindrical sluice-gate and the Lindau bypassing. Over a period of twelve months, from the beginning of April 2008 till the beginning of April 2009, during which these parts of the installation were out of use, the 40900 m? of steel surface were treated completely. The old tar based coating was removed by means of sandblasting and the surface was coated with two or three layers of a solvent-free two-component epoxy resin system.
