SYNERGY

Building up commercial structures for RES in China

This project is co-funded by the European Commission under the SYNERGY programme.

Partners

EREC (European Renewable Energy Council) is coordinating the project. Other partners are: ESHA, CREIA (Chinese Renewable Energy Industry Association) and IN-SHP (International Network for Small Hydropower based in China).

Actions

  • Policy advice in RE issues to the Chinese government and administration. Valuable experience gained in Europe in this respect will be transferred to China. Chinese and European Union policy makers will meet and discuss best practices in that sector. Emphasis will be put on decentralized RE systems to provide poor people with electricity.
  • Preparing its population to energy local ownership structures: Focal points will be created and training will be provided to NGOs in RE development, local communities, local authorities and local financing institutions to prepare locals to run the RE sites they own.
  • Organising seminars and formulating strategy to target CDM funds for RE projects in China which will serve to design the portfolio of investment possibilities.
  • Developing feasibility studies, business and financing plan for 20 renewable energy projects in China
