Output
The ouput of this project was the following:
- As a result of the project the book, "Renewable Energy in Europe - Building Markets and capacity" has been produced. The book deals with recent technological and market development for each of the following RE sectors: biomass, PV, small hydropower, solar thermal, wind, geothermal. Download the Executive Summary. To order the book, please contact James & James (Science Publishers).
- An overview of current policy initiatives within the European Union was prepared, taking all levels of decision making (EU, national, regional and local) into account.
- With the support of local partners in the New Member States a policy review of the current RE development and technology leaflets were produced (solar electricity, wind, small hydropower, biomass, solar thermal).
- In order to discuss current policy initiatives of the European Commission and to stimulate the further uptake of RES both within the EU as well as in the countries of accession, a high-level policy conference on RES was organised in Berlin in January 2004.
- In order to best ensure the uptake of RES in accession countries, workshops were organised in these countries to encourage future policy initiatives for RES.
